Appearance: Mello might have a flair for the dramatic, if his wardrobe is anything to go by. He is always seen in black leather, a small zippered-up vest that ends just past his navel but not quite to his hips, and low rise pants with a white studded belt show off plenty of pale skin. Occasionally he wears a black fur-collared coat, and sun-glasses, as well as black gloves on his hands. Around his neck hangs a crucifix. (this is his first outfit pre-scarring)

After he blew his hideout up and managed to escape miraculously, he was severely burned and changed his outfit to a long sleeved black leather shirt decorated with zippers, and black leather lace-up pants. He has another similar black fur-collared coat that matches the shirt; he wears the hood up over his face whenever he goes out as a protection against others seeing his face.

He has straight blonde hair that stops at his chin and bangs that cover his forehead. He has black eyes that give off an almost insane light- the way he stares at others makes one question how crazy he is. The angry scar running across his face, from the top right of his hairline across his nose and ending just below his left eye merely adds to this perception of Mello.

Personality: Mello is a genius, very intelligent and perceptive- something he shares with Light, L, and Near. Intellectually, they are all around the same level, however the way the use their intelligence, as well as other characteristics set them apart in their application of their respective smarts. For Mello, he is the most obviously crazy among them, though this may be because of his obsessive determination to better Near. He is determined to beat Near no matter what, and when his idol L falls to Kira, that gives him even more motivation to take down Kira before Near does.

Mello lets his emotions get to him- though by emotions, it's hard to imagine him feeling compassion, or joy, or happiness. Rather, he lets his anger get to him, especially when concerning Near or L. Unlike Near who emotionlessly analyzes data, Mello is much more empassioned about his investigation. And it is revealed at the end of his life that he feels compassion and concern for others besides himself at the end, when he apologizes to Matt, whom he knows to have died helping him.

It seems that Mello is religious, though that is a very private matter to him. He never speaks about it, why it seems important to him, only that it appears to be. However, considering that when Mello got religion coincides with L's death, it is quite possible that there is a connection between the two.

Mello is ruthless. He is willing to do anything and everything to catch Kira, including killing those who work under him, if necessary. There is only one life precious to him- his own. And even that only up to a point- he willingly will die if it means not losing.

Abilities/Weapons: Mello is exteremely intelligent, if rash at times. He was, after all, second-in-line to succeeding L. He is a genius, very insightful and perceptive.

He manipulates like crazy. Mello will do whatever necessary to achieve his goal of beating Near and becoming number one, even kill innocent people. This determination leaves him with little inhibitions and morally has no qualms about doing whatever he deems necessary.

He has guns. And he's not afraid to use 'em.

Weaknesses: He lets his emotions get to him, and that clouds his judgement at times. Because of this, no matter how smart he is, Mello will make rash decisions that will lead to making mistakes.

Chocolate. He needs it. And without it will be cranky. Or murderous. And even more crazy and rash than usual.

History: Mihael Keehl was his name when he was born, but orphaned at a young age, he was brought to Wammy's House and ever since has been known as Mello. Mello stayed at Wammy's House in England until he was 14, where he competed with the other residents there to be the next L. He was only ever bested by Near, but consistently, so that Mello became slightly obsessed with besting Near. When L died and Roger, who ran Wammy House, told both Mello and Near that L had died, but left neither as his named successor, suggested that they work together, Mello left the orphanage. He could never work with Near and not know who is better.

About four years passed since he left Wammy's House, and in those years Mello went to America and quickly became asscoiated with the mafia. Because of his intelligence and ruthless nature, Mello easily gained power within the mafia, so much so that he almost runs it. But the only reason he joined them was to use them in his hunt for Kira.

Mello makes the first move between him and Near against Kira, by taking hostages and demanding the Death Note in exchange for the hostage's safe return. Once the Death Note came into his possession, Mello used it to blackmail the President of the United States in order to gain information about the SPK, the task force run by Mello. Because of his bold move against Kira, Light targets Mello first, hunts him out, and eventually finds him. All the men working for Mello are killed, but Mello, whi finds himself cornered, blows up his hideout and escapes, but not without a lot of damage to his skin.

Soon after Mello disappears, he storms into the SPK to see Near and demand his picture- the only remaining of him in the world- and in exchange gives Near some information of his own. And that is the last anyone has heard of Mello, for it was at this point in time that he was pulled out of his universe and to Econtra.
